Gin Navy Strength takes us back to past centuries when sailors in the English Navy loved to drink a glass of gin to prevent illness. The alcohol content of 57.1%, an essential characteristic of quality, could be verified by using it to set gunpowder on fire. Only after this test was the gin 100% “British Proof” - i.e. tested by British soldiers.
Even back then, Navy Strength was mixed with citrus liquor or with quinine (today's tonic water).
Cirka Navy Strength was stored in whiskey barrels for 2 months. This gives the gin a very nice amber color and subtle aromas of oranges.
