6 questions to AGE Distribution
with Alex G. Elsohn, CEO
1. Dear Alex, please tell us something about AGE Distribution and how you came to offer Canadian spirits.
AGE Distribution is a segment of AGE International. Within this framework, we have had Canadian customers in the tourism sector for many years and close contact with Canada on a business and personal level. When we were asked by the producers of Sortilège Maple Whisky a good 2 years ago to bring this special product from Canada to Germany as part of our spirits distribution, we therefore said yes immediately and with pleasure.
2. Which Canadian spirits do you offer at AGE and what makes them so special?
We offer the “Sortilège Original” Maple Whisky Liqueur from Canada. It owes its soft yet powerful note to the unique combination of original rye whiskey and premium maple syrup. Nothing stands for Canada and in particular the place of origin of our products, Québec, as high-quality pure maple syrup and rye whiskey. This makes Sortilège a special flagship product of Canadian origin.
Based on the Sortilège Original, we also offer the “Sortilège Bleuets” in Germany and Austria. Bleuets, in German blueberries, promises what's in content and taste: wild blueberries from the Québec St. Jean Lake region.
And we also sell “The Wild North”, a rye whiskey from the Sortilège distillery. A carefully balanced blend of rye whiskey aged for 5, 7 and 11 years, whose wild Nordic freshness is based on the spring water used.
3. For me, the taste of Canada is...
... the wild, fresh nature that comes into its own in our products.
4. If you could invite a special guest to dinner, who would it be? And what Canadian-inspired dish would be served?
Every person who comes to us is special to us because they give us their attention and we get to know them. Of course, we would design a three-way in which our products also come into their own.
First course: a Canadian wild salmon and blueberry tartare marinated in sortilège bleuets,
Main course: Canadian bison fillet tips marinated with and on a soft-creamy sauce made from The Wild North Rye Whiskey, green pepper and nutmeg, served with mushroom ragout and French Dauphins.
Dessert: Oven-warm fig halves, with Sortilège original marinade and slightly caramelized.
5. What is your favorite way to enjoy Sortilège and Wild North Whisky?
The Sortilège Original well chilled, the Sortilège Bleuets at room temperature and the Wild North also pure and not too cold.
6. Can we look forward to more Canadian products in your range soon?
I'll just tell you this much: More Sortilège products should definitely be brought to Germany. However, this will be a while in coming for various reasons. This also has to do with sustainable production and marketing, for example. Sustainability is important to us and an indispensable basis for environmental protection.
